Let's begin infrastructure refurbishing on bridges, highways, public buildings, schools, and water delivery systems by 2016; including a works program (similar to work programs instituted post WW2 - like the WPA) that will put (especially) young people and the long-term unemployed to work with cut-outs for the unemployed elderly who wish to work to perform administrative tasks. All workers in the program should be paid at least $15 per hour to stimulate the economy.
How about just fixing the infrastructure. It would provide the kind of jobs that the middle class needs. Not every one needs a college education tradesmen are needed and thats what construction jobs can do for the common man/woman. The up side is the first political party that goes big on this issue will find lots of votes. The progressives should make this priority #1.it is the right thing to do for America.
Rebuild this country's' infrastructure. ALL of it. Roads and bridges, railroads, sewer systems, water systems, natural gas and electric distribution systems, and communications systems including broadband classified as a utility. One idea? There are so many ideas/things that need doing the politicians should be tripping over them.
Green new deal! I believe it's already being floated around for military veterans, but train those who need jobs to assess, install and service solar panels. Perhaps consider installing solar panels on some government-sponsored housing units to mitigate costs of electricity (often subsidized by the government.)
