Topic - Bullet and Ammunition Control instead of the fruitless pursuit of Gun Control. Maintain the current laws regarding guns but also pass laws that require a background check for people who by bullets and ammunition. Since "the right to bear arms" doesn't seem to mention bullets or ammunition that would eliminate one of the big arguments that the NRA has. The Feds could add a tax on these sales and the money could go towards gun safety and education or a Victims of Gun Violence Fund.

Lets pass a final law allowing, with or without assistance, the right to die if you are critically ill and/or are suffering with no end in sight. Lets not force suffering on our people. We have a right to die with dignity. (this has nothing to do with any religious belief, it is about living well and/or dying with dignity only)

Merged Idea

Establish federal standards for all federal elections including type and distribution of voting equipment and ballots, voter registration, voting procedures, and - most important - voting districts. Replace partisan gerrymandering with a method that does not disadvantage any parties or electorate segments (e.g., urban residents).

Neuter the CIA. Allow them to only do what they're supposed to do: collect intelligence. Their meddling has been the cause of perpetual war, torture, death, and misery for millions of people, and, especially, terrorist attacks like 9/11. No more meddling in other countries' affairs, no more coups, assassinations, torture, imprisonment etc. Collect intelligence and deliver it to the executive branch and military. Eliminate the NSA and all other spy agencies within the government. One is enough.

Enforce the existing law regarding 501 (c) 3 federal tax exempt corporations that states that such corporations are able to spend only a very small percentage of their income on lobbying state and federal legislatures. Many right wing religious organizations are doing just that, and it must stop. If the organization is primarily intended to create or influence legislation, it must become a non-tax deductible 501 (c) 4 corporation.

Provide basic housing for homeless people. It could consist of a private room and bath with shared cooking and eating facilities. Include heat, parking for cars and bicycles, A/C, electricity, shared laundry facilities and food to prepare community meals. Units should be close enough to town so that people living there can walk to jobs, ride bicycles or use public transportation. Every person deserves food and shelter. Everyone living there would be expected to help take care of the building.

Make sure war profiteering is not an option (or incentive) for large corporations. Limit the profit margin on defense technology, weapons, and military supplies to 10%. If they truly care about contributing to American freedom and national security, why shouldn't they do so with the same patriotic selflessness and devotion as our men and women in uniform who serve for a modest wage? National security is a calling and a responsibility, not a business.

Congress should keep their hands off Social Security and medicare/medicaid.. Social Security is a forced saving account, which belongs to the individuals that have paid into it. There should be no cutting it, not privatizing or redistributing of these funds with out the vote of the American People. If anything, it should be expanded as a one source health program for all. It has worked quite well for many, many years. Why reinvent the wheel to cover our people with healthcare benefits. .

If government grants are used for research and something great is found out and is the basis for a product, no private company or individual should have exclusive patent rights over it....the patent should belong to the people and the government should get a cut of profits for any product sales.

Arrest Drug company "corporate executives" for overcharging for drugs by arbitrary charging prices many many times the cost of what they produce. Unless profit margins from drug produced are reasonable, regulate the prices. More arrests and judgements by courts should be made to determine "reasonable prices". Prison sentences and heavy fines should be given to EXECUTIVES who charge too much.

There is no such thing as an ex-felon. Convicted felons are relegated to second class citizens status and often become cash cows for the prison industrial complex. To help curb the violence in poor communities, restore communities, and help close the income inequality gap allow felons to work. Employers background checks should be restricted to 7 years. With the exception of felonies that are 1st degree or Aggravated (i.e. murder and rape).

Government Doctors: Let's send the best and brightest of our youth, who demonstrate a high aptitude, the chance to become a doctor, paid for by the taxpayer. Upon completion, the new doctor must serve for 10 years at a state-mandated rate. After 10 years, the doctor is free to pursue private practice. Supply of doctors increase, so the market adjusts accordingly.
