Institute new "McCain Rich" tax brackets. When asked by Rick Warren in an interview early in the 2008 campaign, to define "rich" McCain said $5M made someone rich. So let's have McCain Rich tax brackets. All income, regardless of source, above $5M should be taxed at 10% more than the current top tax bracket. 10x that or $50M in income at 10% above that and so on in orders of magnitude of income and higher tax brackets on the super-rich, with the John McCain seal of approval.

Research into how people learn definitively shows that active learning is incredibly more effective than lecture. Neuroscientists are now telling us that no real learning takes place unless the emotions are involved. But what the research shows is not, for the most part, being implemented in the classroom. We need a major revolution in education--even the business gurus are now saying that creative thinking is essential for survival in the 21st century..

Lenders must keep at least the top or riskiest 20% of any loan made, insurance supervision must be maintained high enough to reduce lo losses, and capitalization ratios of 10% must be retained for all financial institutions. They need to regulated heavily since they use other peoples' money like governmtal institions.

Here's another idea - give businesses, regardless of size, a tax break for going green. Too many businesses(usually small to mid-sized)operate with old P.O.S. systems and "back PC"s. This is not good for the customers, employees, the environment, or the bottom line. If businesses knew they were getting money back for upgrading their systems, more probably would. In this economy, some can't(but probably should).

I have seen many poor people in my neighborhood stay dirt poor because we give them money for baby care, health-care, and housing in exchange for their GIVING UP THEIR JOB! Their self-esteem tanks, and so much more. We as communities need to pass laws which stop making poor people useless and instead help and train them to make good decisions without whipping out their self esteem!

Tax people and businesses based on their impact on society. People who choose to be employed in the nonprofit or public services sector and businesses that have a social mission should pay a significantly lower tax rate, particularly if they are saving the government money or stretching public resources further by addressing social and environmental challenges.

Regulate all political commercials so that the ad contains a minimum of ~60% positive ideas that the person stands for & and ~15% on their background. Statements about what they will repeal are not counted as positive statements. Also, all yard signs and billboards must contain a positive position statement.

can anyone or any group REALLY oversee what the military are up to? How do the people regain any degree of control over the military budget, over military engagements, etc. I also think we should pay our soldiers decent salaries instead of hiring mercenaries (private companies). Thank you. Denise Forant, Oakland, CA.

Lower the definition of Full Time Employment to 30 hours . Require employers to prioritize hiring the unemployed and especially persons with disabilities.before hiring someone for a second job. Make ADA real not just a token gesture. Economic recovery will not be real until employment goals are set to stop discrimination against the currently unemployed. More workers i> tax base and < crime. workers are healthier and happier. > leisure <stress &> related business.

There are zero middle and lower class people in our federal Congress. The only way to try to eliminate legislation without representation is to pass term limits. A long running ad campaign nationwide should be funded by collective progressive organizations to do this. Foundations should be contacted to help with funding.

An individual/family that is covered by a medical insurance plan/group! Should not have to pay 100% value for a medical procedure not covered by the medical insurance plan! The cost to the individual/family should be at the same discount rate that the medical insurance plan would pay if the procedure was a covered procedure. The individual/family did not leave the group/medical plan that the discount rate was agreed upon between the medical insurance plan/group and medical providers.

Our economic system requires endless growth to function but such a system is doomed because infinit growth on a finite planet is impossible. Policy makers are held hostage by narrow economic thought from economists that all preach growth in one form or another. But the pursuit of growth is causing our environmental and social problems. Policy makers need exposure to experts from economic fields such as ecological economics and biophysical economics that better explain the real world.
