560 Ideas in Government & Elections

Extend the concept of "Eminent Domain" to the airwaves so that candidates that have gained access to public funds can have an equal number of advertising hours for independent political ads, which can only contain positive statements of what that candidate stands for.

WE, you and i, everyone in human society all over the world work together to develop our next and needed evolutionary sociological step and that is; A global stateless border-less human society that is founded upon egalitarianism, liberal socialism, that would treat the present 'nations' of humanity as simply 'states' as in the united states of america. It would be a DIRECT DEMOCRACY-Each state equal, in all voting rights, like the senate in congress...No wars, no more neo-liberal exploitation...

I pledge to my fellow citizens that I will vote against any candidate holding office that has betrayed the interests of their constituents in favor of the corporate interests that finance them. This means that I will vote against any incumbent, regardless of party, that is not clearly supporting in word and deed, campaign finance reform.

All elected officials should be required to hold their investments and stock portfolios in a blind trust for the entire length of their elected position. This would greatly reduce their ability to vote for things that effect their personal investments.

Do NOT make voting mandatory. Create conditions where candidates & Parties must WIN votes by serving people rather than vested interests. Campaign donors limited to $100 per candidates, $1000 per elections. No corporations or tax exempts. No dark money. No raising money except during a 6 mo. campaign season. Equal air time. No revolving door. No benefit in serving vested interests. Make them work for us. Then everyone will vote, because they want to not because they have to.

Eliminate congressional campaign finance concerns by eliminating congressional elections. Congressional representatives should be drafted from the common citizenry like a wartime draft, or jury duty selection. The pool could be limited to registered voters, perhaps with a minimum of a complete high school education or equivalent, and members would still be subject financial scrutiny to prevent corruption. This would prevent undue influence among cronies and eliminate "Wasington insiders".

When Congresspersons vote on a bill they should have to read it--and prove it by taking a simple test that shows they understand what is in the bill. No one should be allowed to tack on any new parts to the bill past a particular date set out far enough in advance that the entire bill can be read thoroughly before it comes to a vote.

Have public, national elections (popular vote, no electoral college) for the heads of major national government departments & agencies, such as SEC, FEC, FCC, FDA, EPA, USDA, etc. This way WE the People can prevent administrations from putting foxes in charge of the hen houses. All the candidates should be from the Party that wins the White House. Move the current election to September & hold these Dept/Agency Secretary/Head elections in November.

Support separation of church and state. A woman's right to choose should not be politically limited based on the religious beliefs of a politician. Separation of church and state means an individual woman has a right to choose based on her own religious beliefs, rather than being legislated by the religious beliefs of government.

Require political ads to be truthful. If an ad promoting a candidate is shown to lie, and the liar wins the election, the candidate loses the seat immediately.

"One Subject at a Time Act" (OSTA) I would notice and appreciate your co-sponsorship of the "One Subject at a Time Act" (OSTA), HR 2113 and S 1664. This will prevent Congressional leaders from passing unwanted laws by attaching them to popular, but unrelated, bills.

Allow a certain percentage campaign funding advantage for one candidate over the other. Also mandate that that any additional money, that advantaged candidate gets, has to be shared 50-50 with this opposing candidate.

2013's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), by rendering ineffective the requirement that certain jurisdictions with a history of voting discrimination get pre-approval for voting changes. Pass the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 — a modern-day bill to strengthen voter protections nationwide. Remove all voting barriers currently enacted by Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, South Dakota, Iowa, and Indiana.

Regulate the Regulators. Each gov dept/agency already has (or must have) an Inspector General (IG) who is responsible for investigating wrong-doing in its dept/agency. 1) Make these IG's elected officials by publicly financed campaigns. 2) Expand their duties & responsibilities such that they can & must (or be charged w/a felony w/mandatory jail time) prevent bribery, cronyism & conflicts of interest from interfering w/regulatory duties of the dept/agency. 3) Adequately fund IG offices by law.

Abolish the US Senate. This is a totally undemocratic institution made even more-so by its supermajority rules. Increase House of Reps terms to 4 years, half elected each year.

WE NEED A COALITION GOVERNMENT AND DISBAND THE 2 PARTY DUOPOLY STRANGLEHOLD! Do away with the President Election Committee which is controlled by Dem & Rep appointed chairmen. Do away with presidential primaries. Hold a general election that allows many parties and contestants. And the FCC is to make airtime for all Presidential Campaign commercials, to be considered Public Service Announcements - for the public good, and therefore are free of charge, which the FCC has the authority to do !!!

restructure the term lengths for Congress. Lessen the term Senators serve to four years and increase the House of Representatives to four years with a 3 term limit. The elections should coincide with the Presidential election every four years so if the voters are dissatisfied with the current administration and Congress they have the opportunity to vote an entirely new set of politicians into office
